A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit

Richard Bach

I have always been a big fan of a good story. As a child, I loved listening to them with my mother and grand-mother and as an adult I love sharing them with the world. My favourite stories to tell are around food, travel and startups. Check out my portfolio below for a small glimpse of my storytelling abilities.

P for Parenting

December 19, 2018

#MyMandM

I became a mom for the first time in September 2016. It was like nothing the books told me it would be. Motherhood didn’t come as naturally as I thought it would and everything felt 100x harder than my mind had imagined.

I felt compelled to write about my journey as a mother.

This space is called P for Parenting because I wanted to share thoughts and stories not only on parenting kids but also on raising better parents! While my food blog evolved into something I did for a living, this parenting blog is more about creating a safe space for the thoughts that cross my mind as a mother.  Here, I write letters about random things – my favourite one is to my friend, Sleep  and also hope to do my bit in bringing awareness about biases that I face as a mother, like this one on being able to freely breastfeed in public.

Bawi Bride

December 19, 2018

A Parsi feast featuring Kheema Pav, Akoori, Patra ni Machi & Kheema Pattice

The Bawi Bride Kitchen started as a food blog in 2013 right after I got married and discovered that I didn’t know how to cook any of the Parsi food my husband loved to eat. What began as an online diary to record recipes my mom shared with me evolved into a complete food blog that shared lost Parsi recipes and since 2015, a full scale catering kitchen that has served more than 5000 happy customers.

My goal with the Bawi Bride Kitchen is to show people that there is more to Parsi food than Dhansak.

To achieve this goal I share not only recipes but the stories and memories behind those dishes. When I was in Mumbai I also used to conduct various experiences like food walks and cooking demonstrations and in 2019, I launched a short series podcast, Not Just Dhansak which spoke to key Parsi food entrepreneurs to get their take on Parsi food.

Since 2014, our work has been covered by almost 100 media publications and my food blog has won India’s Best Regional Food Blog Award by the Food Bloggers’ Association of India for four consecutive years. It is my dream to one day be able to write a book documenting everything I have learned about my community’s cuisine so that I may leave it behind for all the Bawi Bride’s that come after me. Until then…
